Your organization may have previously registered with PPGF or accepted checks from PayPal Giving Fund, but your organization may now be inactive due to the following reasons:

1. Uncashed Checks: If your organization has not cashed multiple checks sent from PayPal Giving Fund, your account will be made inactive to ensure that funds are reaching the desired recipient.

2. Compliance: Your organization will need to be in compliance with all governing bodies in the United States to receive funds through PayPal Giving Fund.

  • IRS: Your organization will need to be compliant with all IRS registration. Your organization can check your registration status here
  • California Attorney General's Office: All organizations that fundraise online will need to be in compliance with AB 488. California introduced this law to ensure that donations are handled responsibly and transparently. Importantly, AB 488 applies to any nonprofit that solicits or receives donations from California-based donors—regardless of where the nonprofit is located. You can check your registration status here
  • California Franchise Tax Board: Your organization will also need to be in compliance with the FTB. You can check your registration status here

If your organization has taken the steps to become back in compliance, your active status will automatically update on PayPal Giving Fund within 2-4 weeks.

If your organization needs to reach out to the PayPal Giving Fund team to update your address or receive any additional support you can fill out a form here. You can also call the PayPal customer service team (1-888-221-1161) Monday-Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm PST.
