It’s important to the Deed team that donations make it to the designated nonprofit in a timely and efficient manner. We work closely with our payment processing partners to ensure this is the case.
Overview
Donations have varying disbursement timelines based on two factors:
- Employee or Corporate donation
- Payment processing partner
- The payment processor of a donation is dependent on the country where the nonprofit is located
Employee Donations
How it works
- Employee donations are donations made by the employee with their own money (via credit card, PayPal, etc.)
- Note - this does not cover employee payroll donations
- We leverage our payment processing partners' APIs to process these donations in real time.
- Our payment processing partners for employee donations are: PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF), Network For Good, PayPal Direct (PPD), and GlobalGiving.
Timeline
The timelines of the disbursement can depend on the payment processing partner that is processing the donation.
PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF) and GlobalGiving (GG)
- Donations made through PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF) and GlobalGiving are generally disbursed during the last week of the month that the donation was made (usually around the 25th). If the donation is made on or before the 14th of the month, it will be disbursed that month. If the donation is made on or after the 15th of the month, it will be disbursed the following month. Examples are below!
- An employee makes a donation on March 10th, those funds will be disbursed to the nonprofit on or around March 25th.
- An employee makes a donation on March 20th, those funds will be disbursed to the nonprofit on or around April 25th.
PayPal Direct (PPD)
- For donations through PayPal Direct (PPD), they are disbursed immediately to the nonprofit. The nonprofit determines how to receive those funds (sweep into bank account or hold in PayPal account. More info here).
Network For Good (NFG)
-
When your intended charity will receive your donation:
-
NFG sends funds once a month.
-
-
For all donations that are above $10:
-
Funds will be sent the 15th day of the month (or the first business day after the 15th) following the month in which it the donation was made.
- Example: A donation made any time in November, will be disbursed on/around December 15th.
-
In general, funds will be sent no later than 80 days after the date of your donation, with the specific timing determined by factors including the date your donation was made, the date it was placed in the NFG system, and the number of business days in a month.
-
-
For all donations that are below $10:
-
Funds for a given charity will roll over until the payout amount reaches the $10 threshold. The $10 minimum payout amount is lowered to $1 once a year to send out payments less than $10.

Tracking employee donations
- Donations made to PayPal nonprofits (so, being processed by PPGF or PPD) are easily trackable through PayPal’s donation tracker. In an employee’s Profile > Donations > individual donation, they’ll see the Reference number of the donation and can easily search for it through the tracker. We also provide a direct link to that tracker.
- For GlobalGiving & NFG disbursements, you’ll also receive a reference number and can reach out to support@joindeed.com for additional info as needed!
Corporate Matches & Donations (including Payroll)
How it works
- Corporate donations are donations made with corporate funds on the Deed platform.
- Examples include donation matches, Payroll Donations, Deed Credits, direct donations/grants, and donation fees that the company is covering.
- All corporate donations are deducted from your company’s pre-funded Giving Account.
- This means that all company donations are disbursed by way of PPGF, either directly to PPGF or PPD nonprofits or indirectly through GlobalGiving or Network for Good.
- NOTE: Disbursement timelines are based on corporate admin approval of match request.
☝ Quick tip: When a company covers donation fees and an employee makes a donation e.g. $100, the employee will be charged $100. The nonprofit will then receive $100 - cost of the fees. When the batch gets processed, the nonprofit will receive the fee to complete the donation of $100 from the employee.
Timeline
PPGF, PPD & GlobalGiving
- Deed sends PPGF a file of all corporate donation transactions from the previous month on or around the 15th of every month
- For example, the batch with corporate donations (matches, Deed Credits, direct donations, etc) made in March (March 1-March 31) are sent to PPGF on April 15th
- PPGF then processes these corporate donations the last week of each month, around the 25th
- PPGF disburses the donations around the 25th of the following month
- For example, donations made in March (March 1-March 31) are disbursed on or around April 25th
Network For Good
- Corporate Donations, Matches, and Payroll Deductions made anytime in January, will be disbursed to the nonprofit on/around the 15th of March.
⚠️ If there are insufficient funds in your company giving account to disburse corporate donations, the timelines delineated above will be delayed until sufficient funds are available.
Tracking corporate donations
You can track individual match processing and disbursement on an employee’s individual donation page.
You can track direct Corporate Donations in your Corporate Donations tab.
Please note that the ‘Disbursed to the nonprofit on’ section is an estimate until the date itself passes — that’s when you’ll know its final!
☝ Reminder that you can track all your batched donation disbursements in your Budget Ledger!
FAQs
-
If there are insufficient funds in my PPGF DAF, will this prevent employees from using corporate funds (matches, Deed Credits, etc)?
No. The employee experience will not be affected by lack of funds in PPGF. Their use of a match and/or Deed Credits will still be recorded **(i.e. Deed will keep track of these transactions); however, they will not be processed or disbursed until your company replenishes funds in the DAF.
