With Deed’s latest version of the Volunteering Dashboard, you now have access to more volunteering data than ever! In addition to more data visualizations and filters, you are also able to download the Volunteering Report directly from the dashboard, as well as from the Reports tab. 🎉
Below, you’ll find information on the various types of volunteer data available via the Volunteering Dashboard, how to view the data most relevant to your impact program, how to download Volunteer Reports reports, and more.
📓 Glossary of Terms
- Expected hours - Expected hours include the hours for all deeds that employees signed up for on the Deed platform (we call these committed hours, see below), as well as all hours that employees logged for non-deed/off-platform volunteer opportunities (we call these logged hours, see below). With this approach, you will get a more accurate view of your employee volunteering efforts!
- Logged hours - Logged hours are only captured when an employees logs onto the Deed platform and manually logs their hours. Logged hours can include hours from volunteer opportunities available on the Deed platform (deeds) or from off-platform volunteering activities that employees have done not related to a deed (e.g. fed stray animals).
-
Committed hours - This metric represents the total number of hours that employees “committed” to volunteer through deeds they signed up for on the Deed platform. Committed hours is calculated as (# of employees who signed up for a deed) x (the duration of the deed). Ex: 10 people sign up for a 2 hour event, the total committed hours displayed will be 20 hours.
- For volunteer projects, the duration of the deed is calculated as (duration of the project) x (minimum estimated hours per day/week) for each role
- “Off-platform” & “Imported Hours” are not included in the “Committed Hours” total, as these hours were not signed up for on the Deed platform
- Off-platform hours - These are hours that employees log for volunteer activities that were not part of a deed (for example, volunteering at your local animal shelter or food pantry) and must be logged manually by employees through their Deed profile. Once these hours are submitted (and approved) on the Deed platform, they will count toward the “Logged Hours” total.
- Imported hours - Volunteer hours that were tracked on a previous platform and that have been imported to Deed. These hours are shown seamlessly alongside hours logged or committed through Deed, as long as “Imported” is selected in the dashboard filter.. Imported hours are only relevant for partners who transitioned to Deed part-way through the year and want to see their total volunteer impact.
💡 Understanding Your Total Volunteer Impact with Expected Hours
The Deed team wants to make sure admins view and/or download the intended volunteering data based on your company’s use of the Deed platform and approach to impact initiatives. We also know that many of our partner admins find it challenging to get employees to remember to log their hours after a volunteering event or project, which leaves many hours unaccounted for. To address this goal and challenge, we enable you to choose how you want to view your hours on the Volunteering Dashboard and Volunteering Report. The two options are outlined below:
- Expected Hours View - Expected hours include the hours for all deeds that employees signed up for on the Deed platform (we call these committed hours), as well as all hours that employees logged for non-deed/off-platform volunteer opportunities (we call these logged hours). With this approach, you will get a more accurate view of your employee volunteering efforts!
- Standard Hours View - This view only includes logged hours for deeds and non-deed opportunities.
You can change the view using the Hours View Toggle, as shown in below:
