🤑 Donations

  • Updated

The donations tab allows you monitor the donations you receive from fundraisers or from your nonprofit Deed profile.

When you click on an individual donation, you can see:

  • How much money was donated
  • When the donation was made
  • When the donation was disbursed to your nonprofit
  • Which payment processor facilitated the transaction
  • The transaction identifier (ID)

PayPal

If you're a nonprofit that is enrolled with PayPal, you can also log into your PayPal account to review donations received.

  • In PPD countries, your direct donations will automatically show up in your nonprofit's PayPal account (it doesn’t get batched). It will show as a donation like any other they receive through PayPal, with the name and contact information of the donor/sender if they choose to share it.
    • If a nonprofit has their PayPal account set up to sweep automatically to a linked bank account, it will automatically move over to their bank account. If not, the funds will remain in the PayPal account.
  • PPGF donations are granted to charities in a monthly payout, and it doesn’t matter who made them, it gets granted the same.
  • The company name is mentioned in the description added for a donation/match
    • Every donation made to PayPal will automatically generate this description: “Donation supporting {{NONPROFIT1 NAME}}, {{NONPROFIT2 NAME}} made on Deed.” or “On behalf of the fundraiser {{FUNDRAISER NAME}} by {{COMPANY NAME}} on Deed.” and will add the custom dedication and designation as well if provided.

Unenrolled nonprofits

PayPal can disburse matches to "unenrolled" nonprofits for Deed as long as the nonprofits pass their rigorous AML verification process, which usually takes around one month. To ensure quicker disbursement, we recommend that you enroll in PayPal Giving Fund as soon as possible.

If you are an unenrolled nonprofit, your donations will be disbursed via wire (if provided in Guidestar) or check (using the address listed in Guidestar).

  • PayPal cuts checks for unenrolled nonprofits every other month. You can read more about PayPal’s unenrolled payout process here.
  • Unenrolled charities only receive a check with a letter that also shares information about PPGF and the steps to enroll.
  • Charities that are unenrolled do not have access to donor information and cannot request this, they must enroll to access donor information via the PPGF dashboard.

Stripe/GlobalGiving/NFG

  • For nonprofits utilizing Stripe, GlobalGiving, or Network for good, your statement will show that the donation is coming through Deed + company name (no individual information).

Support

Please share the donation ID if you reach out to Deed's customer support regarding a donation transaction, or a screenshot like the example below.
