What are Cause Areas?
Company admins now have the ability to add and edit featured Cause Areas via the Deed Organizer Portal! Active cause areas will be displayed on the employee-facing homepage under Explore.
There are three types of Cause Areas available for you to add to your company’s environment:
- Pillars are the featured cause areas that company admins can create and add non-profits to. They are being highlighted on the Homepage as featured cause areas and employees can browse and see the non-profits under these categories.
- Categories (displayed as Other Cause Areas in Explore) are Deed-created groupings of nonprofits based on nonprofit self-reported categorization ex. Arts, Children, Animals, etc. These can be turned on or off - please reach out to your Program Success Manager
- SDGs are the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal categories. When a nonprofit registers with Deed, they select the relevant SDGs that their work serves. These can be turned on or off - please reach out to your Program Success Manager
How to create a new Pillar
Creating new Pillars and associated nonprofits is as easy as 1-2-3:
- While logged into the Organizer portal, click on “Cause Areas”
- Click on “Add New Cause Area”
- Add in all relevant information, select the cause type as Pillar, be sure to click the toggle to “Active”, link any relevant nonprofits, and hit submit!
There is no limit to the number of nonprofits you can associate with a Pillar. This is a great place to highlight organizations that mean a lot to your employees, ERGs, and leaders.
Editing Pillars
To edit a Pillar, simply click on the relevant Pillar on the organizer portal and edit the relevant information. On that page, you can edit the Pillar name, photos, display order, and associated nonprofits. You can also duplicate the Pillar.
You can also remove a Pillar by editing it or deactivate it by clicking the “Active” toggle.
⛔ Reminder - if you wish to delete Categories or SDGs please reach out to your Program Success Manager.
Editing the “Sorting” will change the order of which the Causes are displayed on the employee facing environment.
